The training path to become a Lower Austrian state ski instructor comprises a total of 4 training levels:

Training course SCHILEHRERANWÄRTER

The "candidate training" is the first part of the state ski instructor training. Internationally it is also called "Level One". In the Lower Austrian Ski Instructor Association, the candidate training comprises 10 course days.

After 10 days of practical experience a further training can be started.

Course SCHILEHRER I

The state instructor part 1, short "LS1", is the next intermediate step on the way to becoming a Lower Austrian state ski instructor. It comprises 10 days of training, is based on the candidate ski instructor and deals especially with the learning stages of applying and perfecting the Austrian ski teaching path.

Course SCHILEHRER II

The state instructor part 2, short "LS2", comprises 10 training days in Lower Austria and completes the state ski instructor training. If the alpine course has not yet been completed, it must be made up for.

ALPINE COURSE

The alpine course lasts seven days and can be attended after positive completion of the ski instructor I training. The main focus of the course is on snow and avalanche awareness, tour planning and handling the avalanche transceiver (LVS).

Required documents

Approval shall be granted by written application to the competent body, accompanied by the necessary documents.

The application for admission must be submitted in good time before the start of the course.

for the course SCHILEHRERANWÄRTER:

  • 15. year of age or older
  • Ski technique: Skiing on medium and steep slopes in parallel ski guidance with low and high speed, short and long radii.
  • The language of instruction is German: All examinations must be held in German in written or oral form.

for the course SCHILEHRER I

  • Successfully completed course "Candidate ski instructor
  • Experience in off-road driving and racing
  • Language of instruction is German: All examinations must be held in German in written Form or oral form.
  • Credits are possible: If you have already completed training at another institute and want to continue your education in Lower Austria, please take the following please contact directly the Lower Austrian Ski Instructors Association - NOESLV,  info@noeslv.at The NOESLV takes into account many of these training courses after a precise and individual examination.

for the course SCHILEHRER II

  • Successfully completed course "Ski instructor candidate" and "Ski instructor I
  • Experience in off-road driving and racing as well as in practical lessons with advanced guests
  • Language of instruction is German: All examinations must be held in German in written Form or oral form.
  • Credits are possible: If you have already completed training at another instituteand would like to continue your training with us, please contact us directly the NÖ ski instructors association - NOESLV, info@noeslv.at. The NOESLV calculates many of these training courses after a precise and individual examination.

for the ALPINE COURSE

  • Completed 16. year of age
  • Successfully completed course "Ski Instructor I
  • Experience in off-road driving as well as in practical lessons with advanced Guests
  • Language of instruction is German: All examinations must be held in German in written Form or oral form.
  • Credits are possible: If you have already completed training at another institute and would like to continue your training with us, please contact us directly with the NOESLV. The NOESLV calculates many of these trainings according to exact and individual review.
  • The alpine course does not apply to state-certified mountain guides.

Training - Theory

  • Movement and teaching (8 units) understand the interrelationships of movements and pass them on to skiers; possibilities and tips for lesson planning
  • English (4 units) Ski specific terminology and movement descriptions in English
  • Children's skiing lessons (4 units) Coordination of the ski lessons especially to the needs of the children
  • Ski history (2 units) Knowledge about the origin and development of winter sports and ski tourism
  • Material science (3 units) Basic information about skis, bindings, boots, clothing,... ski preparation
  • Alpinism (2 units) Basic information about snow and avalanche awareness
  • First aid (4 units) Rescue and winter sports related first aid
  • Professional customer (1 unit)

Theoretical examinations are held either in writing or orally in all the subjects presented.

Training - Practice

  • Austrian Ski Curriculum "Learning
  • technique training, short and long radii
  • Children's curriculum to curves (children's day)
  • Methodical and didactic preparation of the ski lessons, preparation of the Candidates to work in practice, preparation for the exams, children's ski lessons, behaviour in front of the ski group, leading a ski group in the organized ski room, safety aspect

Test contents

  • Ski technical skills check
  • Practical - methodical exercises (teaching)

  • The practical examinations are to be taken by a commission. The practical-methodical exercises are to be checked by the group leader in class.
  • The examination committee has to consist of the chairman or the vice chairman or a member of the board of the Lower Austrian Ski Instructors Association as well as the course leader and the group teachers. The commission has assessed the examination grade and the to determine the qualification mark on the basis of the results of the tests. The minutes shall be kept, which shall be signed by the chairman and all examiners.
  • If the performance of an examinee in one or more subjects of the examination. If the examinee assesses the subjects with "insufficient", he may not perform the exam in the relevant subject or subjects three times repeat.
  • The successful completion of the exam of the candidate ski instructor course entitles the student to Instruction in the primary classes of a ski school, especially for ski instruction with children.

Training - Practice

  • Austrian Ski Curriculum "Learning and Applying

  • With state examined ski instructors, diploma sport teachers, graduates of the University studies of body training with the grade "very good" and alpine ski trainer from qualification C on the training part "Ski instructor course I" can be waived.

  • Alpinology (2 units) "Only for candidates without alpine course
  • Alpine dangers and behaviour in open terrain. Theoretical examinations are held either in writing or orally in all the subjects presented.

  • The successfully passed exams of the state ski instructor course I and II and the Alpine courses entitle you to lessons in all levels and classes of a ski school, including variant skiing in the free ski area.
  • After completion of the national instructor you are internationally on the "LevelTWO" and are entitled to participate in the aptitude test of the state ski instructor training

for the ALPINE COURSE

Training contents

  • Snow science: transformation types, snow cover investigation, wind signs
  • Avalanche knowledge: types of avalanches, avalanche sizes, factors of avalanche formation
  • Route planning: Tools for decision making, strategies for route planning
  • Tour guide: measures at the starting point, guiding technique, track layout
  • Orientation: natural/artificial orientation aids, handling map
  • Rescue/first aid: avalanche transceiver, handling/search, companion rescue, transport of Injured, organized avalanche rescue
  • meteorology: origin, main weather factors, secondary weather factors

Contents will be developed in theory and practice.

The alpine course can be booked either between the course ski instructor I and ski instructor II or after the course ski instructor II.

The representation of interests and service point of the ski schools and ski instructors in Lower Austria.

Authentication or signature of the application is not required.

An appeal is possible against rulings issued by an authority and shall be filed by the party within a four weeks term with the authority that issued the ruling of first instance (against rulings without investigation procedure within a two weeks term). The term starts with the receipt of the written copy of the ruling, in the case of oral pronouncement simultaneously with it.

The appeal shall indicate the ruling it contests, the authority that issued the ruling and contain a motion of appeal with the reasons. No more appeal is admissible if the party expressly waived the right of appeal after receipt or pronouncement of the ruling.

Each ruling contains instructions on the right to appeal and indicates the authority and the deadline for submission of such appeal.
